South Korean game company Nexon announced that it will invest up to $100 million in funding for its classic IP MapleStory’s Web3 game, “MapleStory Universe.” This move aims to make MapleStory a leader in the Web3 gaming field.
Nexon, the Korean gaming giant that developed classic online games such as “MapleStory” and “KartRider,” announced today (20th) that it will invest up to $100 million in funding for the Web3 game “MapleStory Universe,” which is based on its classic MMORPG MapleStory.
This substantial funding injection is aimed at enhancing the game economy and player experience, as well as expanding MapleStory Universe, including blockchain-based MMORPG, mobile versions of the game, and software development kits (SDKs), making MapleStory a leader in the Web3 gaming realm.
MapleStory Universe receives $100 million investment.
Since its launch in 2003, MapleStory has become widely popular worldwide and is one of Nexon’s flagship IPs. The game has generated over $4 billion in revenue and attracted over 260 million players globally.
In March of this year, Nexon announced the development of a new Web3 game, “MapleStory Universe,” and partnered with Polygon to launch an independent subnetwork for MapleStory Universe by integrating Polygon Supernets, a large-scale application chain, allowing game developers to customize and expand their blockchain space.
