After the Ethereum Dencun upgrade, Blob was officially introduced, and due to its cheap characteristics, it is being widely used to create Blobscriptions, which is considered as the second version of Ethscriptions. This article is from Cookie, compiled, translated, and written by Block Beats.

After Bitcoin introduced “Bitcoin Stamps 2.0” with OLGA, Ethereum’s Ethscriptions also came up with “Ethscriptions 2.0” called Blobscriptions. Co-founder of Ethscriptions, @dumbnamenumbers, released a tweet in the early morning of the 28th, announcing the official launch of Blobscriptions.
The “Duck Rabbit” mentioned in this tweet is a meme that @dumbnamenumbers likes. He had posted this image on the Base network in August last year.
At that time, he also received a reply from Jesse Pollak, the founder of the Base protocol:
Jesse Pollak: Thank you for putting “Duck Rabbit” on Base.
Through Etherscan, we can also see that @dumbnamenumbers himself created a version of “Duck Rabbit” for Blobscriptions before announcing its launch on Twitter.

As a result, many players started creating versions of “Duck Rabbit” for Blobscriptions. At the time of writing this article, Gas has skyrocketed. According to the insufficient balance prompt in the following image, it costs about 0.1 ETH to create a version of “Duck Rabbit” for Blobscriptions…
Due to the limitation of 6 Blob data per Ethereum block, if it is included, it would take about 6 blocks.

So what are Blobscriptions?
Blobscriptions are…
The “Blob” introduced in EIP-4844 allows anyone to store data on Ethereum at a price 10 to 100 times cheaper than calldata, which further reduces the cost of engraving Ethscriptions. According to @dumbnamenumbers, we can engrave an Ethscription of 768 kb for less than $5.
However, this “discount” comes at a cost. Since Blob focuses on storing Layer 2 transaction data (to distinguish it from Layer 1 calldata and reduce Layer 2 transaction fees), Ethereum itself does not guarantee the availability of Blob data for more than 18 days.
In response to this, @dumbnamenumbers specifically stated that it is okay because the indexer of Ethscriptions will store this data indefinitely.
So in summary, Ethscriptions cleverly uses Ethereum’s new features to reduce the cost of engraving.
How to engrave Blobscriptions?
Visit https://blobscriptions.io/ to engrave Blobscriptions. After entering the website, we first click on “Create a burner for me”, and the website will generate a new wallet for us. Import the private key into a Web3 wallet like Metamask, and make sure to verify that the displayed address matches.
Then follow the steps below, and remember to transfer ETH to the new address for payment of the engraving cost.
Currently, there are people creating BLOB-20 tokens. This should be the person in the following image. He provides a tool specifically for creating BLOB20 tokens, and the security needs to be verified by individuals.
