$DOGE fluctuates
After the news broke, the price of DOGE surged over 6% to a high of $0.17, but then began to decline. Within 15 minutes of the news release, it plummeted more than 3% and is now trading at $0.1584, a 5.52% decrease in the past 24 hours.
Kabosu meme origin
Dogecoin was created as a joke at the end of 2013 when engineers Jackson Palmer and Billy Markus modified the code of Bitcoin and created Dogecoin. The initial inspiration for Dogecoin came from a Shiba Inu named Kabosu from Japan.
Kabosu’s owner, Atsuko Sato, frequently shared Kabosu’s daily life photos on the internet. In an article titled “What’s for Dinner Today?” on February 13, 2010, Atsuko Sato shared a photo of Kabosu with folded hands and a proud smile, portraying a human-like expression. Later, this photo became a popular Dogecoin meme.
