$DOGE experiences ups and downs
After the news was released, the price of DOGE surged by over 6% to a high of $0.17, but then began to decline. Within 15 minutes of the news release, the price plummeted by over 3%, and is currently trading at $0.1584, a decrease of 5.52% in the past 24 hours.
Kabosu meme origin
Dogecoin was created as a joke at the end of 2013 when engineers Jackson Palmer and Billy Markus modified the code of Bitcoin to create Dogecoin. The original inspiration for Dogecoin came from Kabosu, a Shiba Inu from Japan.
Kabosu’s owner, Atsuko Sato, often shared daily life photos of Kabosu on the internet. In an article titled “What’s for dinner today?” on February 13, 2010, Sato shared a photo of Kabosu with folded hands, a proud smile, and a human-like expression. This photo later became a popular Dogecoin meme.
