Twitter and payment giant Block (formerly Square) founder Jack Dorsey expressed his hope for Bitcoin to promote world peace in an interview on the 25th. He also shared his latest views on Bitcoin.
In the interview, Jack Dorsey, who resigned as CEO of Twitter in 2021, focused on the development of Block and the Bitcoin ecosystem. As a devout believer in Bitcoin, he believes that Bitcoin’s development will only get better. He mentioned that the operation and testing of Bitcoin have become more refined and the network has become more flexible. Despite the emergence of new threats every year, he is amazed to see the community, including individual developers, companies, and Bitcoin users, identify these threats and address them in a thoughtful manner.
When asked about his aspirations for Bitcoin in the next 15 years, Jack Dorsey firmly replied, “World peace.”
Regarding the biggest misconceptions about mining among the media, government, and even Bitcoin enthusiasts, Jack Dorsey pointed out that the misconceptions are mainly related to the debate over energy costs and the amount of energy Bitcoin requires.
In conclusion, Jack Dorsey stated that besides the centralization issue in mining, the biggest problem Bitcoin faces is people feeling disconnected from Bitcoin and searching for use cases. He believes that people want to see more stories about use cases to understand the value of Bitcoin. Block is focusing on the use case of remittances, which he considers valuable for efficient cross-border fund transfers.
He emphasized that while value storage is the beginning of Bitcoin’s use cases, remittances are another important area.
