The second ETHTaipei concluded successfully at the end of March, attracting enthusiastic participation from over a thousand attendees. The 40-hour hackathon brought together more than 300 developers from around the world, showcasing their technical talents and innovative ideas.
During the event, Ethereum founder Vitalik made a creative temple-themed appearance that amazed the audience and sparked discussions online. After days of hard work and in-depth discussions, the moment of unveiling the results finally arrived, and several projects received high recognition from the judges for their innovation.
A total of 70 teams participated in the hackathon, resulting in 56 projects. The focus of this hackathon was to bring more innovative applications to Ethereum through Layer2, Privacy, and On-chain AI. Developers used their past experience and cutting-edge technologies to bring new products and vitality to the entire ecosystem within three days.
With 70 teams and 56 projects competing for over 2.3 million in prizes, the judges carefully evaluated the submissions and selected several remarkable projects. Among the nine Community Finalists, two teams used the latest technology from the Dencun upgrade to implement their products. This included using Blob Data to make Layer2 applications more cost-effective and utilizing Transient Storage to optimize ERC20 and ERC721. These projects demonstrated the Ethereum community’s understanding of the latest EIPs and their ability to flexibly apply them.
Another highlight was the several teams from Taiwan that developed end-to-end products within the short span of three days. Examples included ZicretPair, an anonymous dating platform on the blockchain, Hiraijin, a QR code transfer system for on-chain assets, and Kage, a cross-chain privacy transfer service. These teams participated in the Demo Day and received significant attention, allowing developers from different countries to exchange ideas and spark creativity.
In addition to the mentioned projects, many other outstanding works emerged during the hackathon, showcasing participants’ technical abilities and their passion and expectations for the Ethereum ecosystem.
This hackathon also received positive evaluations from international companies that sponsored the prize money and posed challenges. The judging team from ConsenSys commented, “Project quality was really competitive.” The Polygon team also responded, “The quality of projects were mostly above average from a hackathon perspective.”
Overall, ETHTaipei 2024 hackathon not only showcased participants’ creativity and talent but also facilitated technological exchange and community progress, bringing new dynamism to the Ethereum ecosystem.
