The film is produced by Optimist, a film company, and the production funds were obtained from the sale of NFT posters on the Mirror platform in 2021, which raised 1,036 ETH.
According to the official announcement, this film is the core of the Ethereum Story series and will take the audience deep into the heart of the Ethereum community, exploring the history of generative art, experiencing the democratic power of ConstitutionDAO, reliving the launch of GitcoinDAO, and witnessing the innovation of Uniswap, among others.
The announcement also states that this film cannot capture the complete story of Ethereum because it is a diverse and vast ecosystem. However, viewing the community through the perspective of Vitalik Buterin helps make this story more accessible and human.
The official pointed out that this documentary is crowdfunded by the community and specifically designed for the community, cryptocurrency enthusiasts, and skeptics. The first trailer will be released soon.
The release schedule consists of five phases:
Phase 1: Trailer release – July 23rd:
The trailer will be available for minting on Zora, with unlimited mints. Each mint will provide funding for the film’s release. The official will also launch a leaderboard challenge for minters, with top minters enjoying rewards such as attending the documentary premiere and having their name featured in the credits.
Phase 2: On-chain ticket presale – July 26th:
Users can watch the documentary on ethereumfilm.xyz through Base’s on-chain ticketing system. The film will also have premieres in over 250 locations worldwide through Gathr, a decentralized, community-driven platform.
Phase 3: Global release – September 18th:
Ticket holders will have 30 days to watch the documentary on ethereumfilm.xyz. Additionally, premieres held on screens around the world will bring the global Ethereum community together.
Phase 4: Extended theatrical run – Fall 2024:
Bringing the community together through live events and film screenings.
Phase 5: Mainstream streaming premiere – Winter 2024/2025:
The film will be available on global traditional streaming platforms, with the exact timing to be determined.
