Peter Schiff, the Bitcoin antagonist, celebrates his 62nd birthday with a request for Bitcoin airdrops
Peter Schiff, long known for his critical stance against Bitcoin and founder of the precious metals trading company SchiffGold, celebrated his 62nd birthday yesterday. In a post on social media, he invited the community to send him Bitcoin as a gift, sparking discussions within the community.

Peter Schiff, a long-time Bitcoin critic and founder of SchiffGold, announced in early March that he would follow the U.S. government’s model of creating a personal Bitcoin strategic reserve without increasing costs. He provided a wallet address, and the generous community actually airdropped Bitcoin worth over $4,000 into his account.
Requesting more Bitcoin airdrops for his birthday
Then, last night, Peter Schiff posted again, saying:
Today is my 62nd birthday. To build my reserve in a budget-neutral way, just like the U.S. government, in lieu of gifts, I’m accepting Bitcoin.
For transparency, I moved my Strategic Bitcoin Reserve from an exchange to a hardware wallet. Today is my 62nd birthday. To build my reserve in a budget-neutral way, just like the U.S. government, in lieu of gifts, I’m accepting Bitcoin.

Although this started as a joke, a well-known figure like Peter Schiff requesting Bitcoin from the community still stirred up significant reactions. User @surreaall criticized, saying: “You’ve opposed BTC your whole life, and now you’re begging for it?” X user @WabiWabiCrypto also questioned, “I thought he hated Bitcoin, but now he’s accepting donations?”
Bitcoin reserves are a bad idea
Of course, this does not mean that Peter Schiff has fully changed his stance. He described this as a form of “performance art” aimed at mocking Bitcoin and the U.S. government’s Bitcoin reserve strategy. Ultimately, he does not believe in Bitcoin or the establishment of Bitcoin reserves by the U.S. government, viewing it as a doomed project that will fail, just like a sinking ship:
I adopted a budget-neutral strategy to acquire strategic reserve Bitcoin at no incremental cost to myself, and I will absolutely never sell it. It will demonstrate why a Bitcoin reserve is a bad idea. I’m going down with the ship so others never get on board.
None of the Bitcoin in my Strategic Reserve, acquired at no incremental cost to myself, using my budget-neutral strategy, will be sold. It will show why a Bitcoin reserve is a bad idea. I’m going down with the ship so others never get on board.

According to the latest on-chain data, his wallet now holds 0.053 BTC, which has been slowly growing… Will his performance art really see Bitcoin’s collapse? While the author believes it won’t happen, let’s continue to watch.
