Bitget Exchange Announces Appointment of Gracy Chen as New CEO
Bitget, a global leading cryptocurrency exchange and Web3 company, has announced the appointment of Gracy Chen as the new Chief Executive Officer (CEO), effective from May 2024. She will be replacing Sandra Lou, who is leaving the platform to pursue her personal goals. With over 10 years of experience in corporate management, marketing, and investment, Gracy has proven herself as a leading female entrepreneur in the crypto world.
Since 2014, Gracy, as a renowned television host, has been increasingly attracted to the vibrant field of blockchain technology, specifically cryptocurrencies, through her interactions with knowledgeable guests like Tim Draper. Each interview not only enriched her program but also heightened her interest and passion for this emerging field. Gracy quickly invested in several crypto startups, including Asia’s largest Web3 multi-chain wallet, Bitkeep (now Bitget Wallet).
In June 2022, Gracy joined Bitget as its first Managing Director, leading the platform’s development strategies during its global expansion plan. Over the past two years, her exceptional abilities in managing and motivating decentralized multinational teams have played a crucial role in the fast-paced and highly competitive crypto industry. One of her notable achievements includes increasing Bitget’s user base fourfold through partnerships with legendary football star Leo Messi and establishing a strong global alliance network, solidifying Bitget’s position as one of the top five cryptocurrency exchanges and Web3 platforms.
Gracy Chen has also been actively promoting diversity and inclusivity in the crypto industry through her leadership in two corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives at Bitget. In May 2023, she launched the #Blockchain4Youth campaign, aiming to encourage the younger generation to embrace cryptocurrencies and blockchain technology, driving the adoption of Web3 applications. This campaign has collaborated with over 50 educational institutions and has benefitted over 6,000 young talents within just a year.
As one of the main initiators of Bitget’s #Blockchain4Her, Gracy’s vision for a sustainable future involves integrating inclusivity and gender diversity into the blockchain industry, ensuring equal opportunities and representation for women in this transformative field.
Beyond her responsibilities at Bitget, Gracy actively seeks opportunities to contribute to the cryptocurrency sphere. As a columnist for Forbes and Cointelegraph, she has published over 50 articles introducing blockchain to the public. She also serves as a judge on the first cryptocurrency TV show “Killer Whales,” founded by Hollywood producers, which aims to discover promising Web3 projects and highlight their real-life impact.
Her contributions have earned her the title of Global Shaper from the World Economic Forum in 2015 and membership in the Forbes Business Council in 2023.
Gracy holds a bachelor’s degree from the National University of Singapore (NUS) and a Master of Business Administration from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).
