In response to the recent earthquake in Hualien, Taiwan, Binance Charity will airdrop BNB tokens worth up to $1 million (approximately NT$32 million) to Binance users in the affected area.
Eligibility requirements:
User identification will be based on the user’s address and proof of address (POA) in the Hualien area (13 townships and cities) most affected by the earthquake according to the user’s identity verification process (KYC) on Binance. Binance users who have completed KYC or POA before April 5, 2024, will receive BNB tokens equivalent to $120 directly into their Binance accounts.
In addition, existing Binance users in the Hualien area who have completed account registration before April 5, 2024 (excluding April 5), and have completed POA between April 5, 2024 (including that day) and April 20, 2024 (including that day) can receive BNB tokens equivalent to $25.
We expect the funds to be airdropped to eligible user accounts starting from April 8, 2024.
In recent years, blockchain and virtual assets have provided a new way for charitable donations, making donations faster, low-cost, and transparent, and enabling direct delivery of funds to beneficiaries without the need for intermediaries or individuals. On the other hand, beneficiaries also have greater freedom to decide how to use the funds according to their own needs.
Richard Teng, CEO of Binance, said that at this critical moment, Binance stands with our users and community. In the past, Binance has also provided assistance to users in Ukraine, Turkey, Morocco, and Libya.
