US business magazine Forbes recently released the top 10 billionaires with the highest wealth growth by 2023. Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla, topped the list with a wealth increase of $108.4 billion this year, making him the richest person in the world. Among the top 10 highest-earning billionaires, as many as 7 are from the technology industry.

According to Forbes, the list of the top 10 billionaires with the highest wealth growth by 2023 shows that more than half of the 2,568 billionaires in the world have become wealthier since the beginning of this year, thanks to the global stock market rally. Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla, saw his wealth increase by $108.4 billion in 2023, ranking first on the list. Currently, Musk’s net worth is $254.9 billion, making him the richest person in the world.

Despite the challenges Musk faced in running the X platform, Tesla and SpaceX helped him become the highest-earning billionaire this year. Tesla’s stock price has risen over 100% this year, surpassing a market value of $800 billion. SpaceX has successfully completed over 90 launch missions this year, and in July, its valuation soared to $150 billion. It is reported that the company is currently selling internal stocks at a valuation of $180 billion.

The top 10 highest-earning billionaires list for this year is as follows:
1. Elon Musk (Tesla, SpaceX) – Current net worth: $254.9 billion (increase of $108.4 billion)
2. Mark Zuckerberg (Facebook) – Current net worth: $118.6 billion (increase of $74.8 billion)
3. Jeff Bezos (Amazon) – Current net worth: $172.3 billion (increase of $65 billion)
4. Prajogo Pangestu (diversified business) – Current net worth: $52.8 billion (increase of $47.9 billion)
5. Larry Page (Google) – Current net worth: $111.7 billion (increase of $34.4 billion)
6. Amancio Ortega (Zara) – Current net worth: $97.4 billion (increase of $33.2 billion)
7. Sergey Brin (Google) – Current net worth: $107.3 billion (increase of $33 billion)
8. Steve Ballmer (Microsoft) – Current net worth: $110.9 billion (increase of $32.4 billion)
9. Larry Ellison (Oracle) – Current net worth: $133.2 billion (increase of $30.8 billion)
10. Huang Renxun (NVIDIA) – Current net worth: $43.6 billion (increase of $29.8 billion)

As of December 15th, the total wealth of these top 10 billionaires increased by a staggering $490 billion. It is worth noting that 7 out of the 10 individuals are from the technology industry. While large tech stocks performed poorly last year, this year has been a rebound year, with the tech-heavy Nasdaq Composite Index rising by 42%, nearly double the 23% increase of the S&P 500 Index.

The stock prices of Apple, Microsoft, Alphabet, Amazon, NVIDIA, Tesla, and Meta, the seven major tech giants, have far surpassed the general market, enabling their leaders to gain more wealth.

Among the top 10 highest-earning billionaires this year, only two billionaires are from outside the United States. They are Prajogo Pangestu, an Indonesian petrochemical energy tycoon, whose wealth increased by over 900% and ranked first, and Amancio Ortega, the founder of ZARA and Spain’s richest person.
