Another independent miner has successfully mined a Bitcoin block through the lottery mining machine! The developer of the independent mining pool CKPool, Dr-ck, tweeted that a miner, using only a 3.3 TH Bitcoin 480GH Bitaxe mining machine, successfully packaged Bitcoin block 887212 in Solo CKPool. According to calculations, compared to the total network hash rate, this miner had only a 1 in 244,036,364 chance of mining a block every 10 minutes.

Another extremely lucky independent Bitcoin miner has claimed the entire block reward! The developer of the independent mining pool CKPool, Dr-ck, tweeted that a miner, using only a 3.3 TH Bitcoin 480GH Bitaxe mining machine, successfully packaged Bitcoin block 887212 in Solo CKPool. Based on the current Bitcoin price, he received approximately 3.15 BTC worth about 244,547 USD (block reward + transaction fees):
Congratulations to the super lucky miner bc1qaxccz85rx6ywy2xw6ugtm6u37mvew6qqn7lgtd, who successfully mined the 297th independent block with only 3.3 TH at solo.ckpool.org!
He achieved this feat using a 480GH Bitaxe!
Congratulations to a super lucky miner bc1qaxccz85rx6ywy2xw6ugtm6u37mvew6qqn7lgtd with only 3.3TH who solved the 297th solo block at https://t.co/UWgBvLkDqc with a 480GH Bitaxe! https://t.co/OKIq0tfSOX
According to the official website, Solo CKPool adopts a “Solo Mining” model, unlike traditional mining pools that concentrate hashing power and distribute rewards based on contribution. In Solo CKPool, each participant mines independently, and if they mine a block, that miner receives the entire block reward without sharing with others. Therefore, the reward for this lucky miner yesterday was quite substantial. However, of course, the probability of a single mining machine successfully mining a block through Solo Mining is very low, and participating in Bitcoin mining with small hash power may not be cost-effective.
The mining probability is less than 1 in 200 million. Currently, the total network hash rate for Bitcoin is 805.32 EH/s, while CKPool’s hash rate is only 76.3 PH/s, accounting for just 0.0095% of the entire Bitcoin network’s hash power. Thus, this miner was indeed very lucky yesterday.
Additionally, according to CKPool’s developer, he achieved a hash rate of 3.3 TH using a 480GH Bitaxe mining machine, meaning that this miner was using about 7 units of 480GH Bitaxe for merged mining. This also implies that the total network hash rate is 244,036,364 times that of the merged mining machine, giving the miner approximately a 1 in 244,036,364 chance of successfully mining a block every 10 minutes. Even when measured on a daily basis, the chance would be approximately 1 in 1,694,696 to mine a block.
CKPool developer Dr-ck also added:
The probability of a miner of this scale mining a block in a day is less than one in a million, which means it would take an average of 3,500 years to mine one block.
Moreover, industry experts consulted by the news outlet noted:
Although CKPool’s developer stated that this was mined by an independent miner with 3.3 TH, the Solo CKPool mining pool has as many as 30,000 mining machine addresses engaged in mining, including large hash power. Meanwhile, the mining pool page cannot verify whether a small mining machine independently mined the block (it could have been mined by large hash power).
Therefore, I would remain cautious about such events, which have a lower probability than winning the lottery.
